ESPN called upon their trusted production studio and build partner, Future Grade Technologies, to build a first-of-its kind mobile live production studio and control room, all within a Mercedes Sprinter Van. The ESPN College Game Day Sprinter now produces weekly game content, direct to broadcast, redefining the boundaries of on-the-go content creation.
The Mercedes Benz & ESPN College Day Sprinter van is a prime example of how specialized workflows, cutting-edge technology and creative design can transform any space into something incredibly unique and groundbreaking for live content creation. This endeavor marks a significant stride towards the future of podcasting and broadcasting, emphasizing flexibility, efficiency, and the ability to take a show on the road.
As spacious and luxurious as a Mercedes sprinter van can be, it also be a little tight for a multi camera live production set. Using Future Grade’s expertise in studio fabrication, technical design and streamlined systems integration, we turned this Sprinter Van into an incredibly intimate and unique production set, with three different mounted PTZ camera angles, end to end discrete professional audio, ISO camera recording, satellite + cellular bonded remote connectivity, and so much more.
In collaboration with Mathews Specialty Vehicles, a control station desk was devised to house the core of the A/V, record, capture, encoding, and control panels, all condensed into the most compact form factor possible.
The result is a fully operable live production console, from both onsite, and over IP from anywhere in the world. Future Grade’s approach ensures every studio is designed TO facilitate remote REMI (Remote Integration Model) production AND rapid deployment, with a short setup time of under 10 minutes to go live.
